How do I get started using PCC4U learning resources?

Tailoring the PCC4U learning resources to suit the learning needs of your target audience is outlined in the Using PCC4U resources pages. We have resources suitable for all health professional groups, with specific resources for Enrolled Nurses, Care Workers and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Professionals.

The resource Using PCC4U Resources: a guide for educators has a step-by-step guide to help you in starting to use the PCC4U resources.

What parts of the PCC4U learning resources do I use?

The first step is to familiarise yourself with what PCC4U has to offer by going to the PCC4U website and Palliative Care Education LMS, and consider what the learning needs of your staff are. On our site you will find the following resources:

The resources and links under the About PCC4U page can help to provide further background information

How can the PCC4U resources be delivered?

Self-directed learning:

  • If using the PCC4U Core Modules and Focus Topics, learners can work independently through all the online learning resources beginning with Core Module 1, or choose specific Core Modules or Focus Topics to complete. Workbooks are available for each resource which learners can use to respond to the Thinking Points that are included for each Activity. These can be completed electronically (PDF-writable) or in print format.
  • If using the PCC4U VET Sector Toolkits, learners can register on our LMS and enrol in the specific modules to complete online, or you can talk to us about options for sharing content with your own LMS.

Face-to-face delivery: An onsite educator can facilitate a program guiding learners through the selected PCC4U learning resources. Learners participate in group learning opportunities focusing on specific topics, case studies and thinking points. Some previous examples of this include:

  • Extending the PCC4U case studies and creating additional complex presentations to address multidisciplinary care and specific concerns relevant to discipline or settings. Often the case studies are a means of creating a profile and case and the accompanying thinking points are a means of getting profession-specific conversations started
  • Adapt the case studies for experiential learning (ie, into role plays and simulations) to suit specific settings and professions, enabling learners to ‘experience’ the scenario.

Blended learning: Combine self-directed / online learning with face-to-face group learning opportunities.

  • With all delivery options, the ‘Curriculum Blueprint’ documents can be used to ‘cherry-pick’ content to create a customised Palliative Care learning program to fit with your staff professional development program.
  • PCC4U case study videos can be used with selected activities as discussion starters for group presentations and workshops.

If I want to create my own presentations using the PCC4U resources, how can I obtain the PCC4U videos?

All PCC4U video resources are now available via YouTube via the PCC4U YouTube Playlist.

  • To access videos, click on the relevant title.
  • To add the video to your presentation or LMS site, click on the share menu item and copy the text that YouTube provides as the share link.

See the PCC4U copyright page for further information and suggested citations.
